Tropical Smoothie

Updated: Jul 10, 2021

This is a lovely, refreshing drink perfect for hot summer days.

Ingredients:

150g frozen tropical fruit

250ml apple/orange juice

Method:

  1. Pour the fruit into a jug with the apple juice. You can add more apple juice or less fruit if you prefer your smoothies thinner.

  2. Use a hand blender to mix it until there are no lumps left in the drink.

  3. Pour it into a glass and enjoy.

This recipe is super easy and really doesn't take much time. It tastes just like a smoothie you could get from a shop but can be easily personalised to fit your tastes. It is perfect for a hot summer day to cool you down and hydrate you. It could also be a good way of using up fruit if you need to.

You could add other fruit to this smoothie such as banana or make it thinner if you prefer smoothies like that. I use frozen fruit for this recipe but i'm sure you could use fresh tropical fruit for it

too- the frozen fruit just means it is cooler and therefore nicer on a hot day. Frozen fruit also makes the smoothie easier to make because you don't have to prepare the fruit. It's up to you to do what you want with this recipe, this is just a base for you to work on to make what you like.

Nutrition wise, this drink contains lots of vitamins and minerals but very little other nutrients. If you are having this smoothie as a snack, make sure to eat something else with it (such as nuts or a protein bar) to fill you up and keep you going. Alternatively, you could use coconut milk instead of apple or orange juice to add more protein to this smoothie.
