Breakfast Pots

Updated: Jul 10, 2021

This delicious recipe is a great start to your day, especially when you've got little time in the mornings! Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Ingredients:

40g rolled oats

125g fat free yoghurt (preferably fruit flavoured)

70g fresh/ frozen fruit of your choice

Method:

  1. Put about 1cm of oats in the bottom of a food container and cover with about 2cm of yoghurt (double the amount of yoghurt as the amount of oats).

  2. Do this repeatedly until all of your oats are in the pot in layers covered with yoghurt.

  3. Put the fruit that you chose ontop, in the case of bigger berries or grapes, you may like to cut them up before putting them on.

  4. Cover and place your tub in the fridge overnight and in the morning you'll have a healthy, on the go breakfast. These will last up to 3 nights in the fridge so if you fancy preparing a few days in advance, it works perfectly.

I absolutely love this recipe, it makes school mornings a lot easier as it is prepared in advance. It means I have more time in the mornings and don't have to rush. It is tasty and super healthy, all in all the perfect breakfast.

Nutrition wise, this recipe contains everything you need! The oats provide 26.5 grams of carbohydrate, 4.2 grams of dietary fibre and 6.8g of protein along with calcium, iron and potassium. The yoghurt provides 9.1 grams of carbohydrate, 4.7 grams of protein along with calcium, vitamin D, magnesium, vitamin B-12 and riboflavin. The fruit contains an array of vitamins and minerals (will differ depending on which fruit you choose), naturally occuring sugars (the best kind of sugars as they are unrefined) and dietary fibre.

I have tried this recipe many ways and have found that the layers work best like this as it leaves no dry oats at the bottom. The layers don't need to be exact but they need to be quite thin to make it work best.

This recipe works well with a variety of fruits and yoghurt flavours so have fun with it and

find what you love! I usually use berries and strawberry/ cherry yoghurt but there are many wonderful options you can go for. I have tried this recipe with many different typres of fruits and yoghurt and it's always delicious!

Thanks you for reading, I hope you give this recipe a try and enjoy it. Why not take a look at my other posts?
